This role in summary

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Automation Engineer to join our team in Amana, IA. Overall, in this role you will be responsible for the implementation of technology to improve, streamline and automate manufacturing processes in accordance with World Class Manufacturing Methodology (WCM).

Your responsibilities will include

• Procure new equipment and manage third party suppliers

• Daily troubleshooting and repair of new automation equipment

• Develop applications for manufacturing processes to make the plant operations more efficient

• Responsible for developing, updating & implementing process documents(Process Failure Mode Effects & Analysis (PFMEA), Process maps, Control plans, Reaction plans) for various equipment or processes

• Work with Design Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to develop and implement robust automation solutions

• Review & Approve Electrical & Mechanical drawings

• Working knowledge of ANSI safety standards

• Entry level knowledge in Studio 5000, HMI, Ignition & Databases

• Train supervisor, team leads, and operators on equipment required for implementation of automation.

• Develop and implement small to medium size Capital projects related to Automation roadmap

• Work with various levels of the organization (Advanced Manufacturing, Central Manufacturing, New Product Launch, Engineering Platform) to implement new technologies at the plant.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

• 1+ years experience in a manufacturing environment

• 1+ years of experience with participation in Automation projects

Preferred skills and experiences

• Knowledge in World Class Manufacturing (WCM)

• Project management skills or PMP Certification

• Well developed communication, conflict management, coaching, interpersonal, and team building skills

• Proven ability to improve operations within established production systems.

• Ability to integrate AB PLC with peripheral devices like Vision Systems, Robots, Barcode Readers, motion devices etc with EthernetIP

• Certified Fanuc Programmer(Handling Pro)

• Ability to perform 3D simulations

• Robot end effector, machine interface development

• Autocad or Creo 3.0 or equivalent experience

• A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge

• Ability to keep up with the latest technologies
