Mary Greeley Medical Center Accounting Clerk in Ames, Iowa

  • Position Summary

  • Under general supervision, completes daily processing including matching invoices to receipts, issuing payments, collaboration of activities with materials management, participation in systems/workflow changes and other accounting duties as required. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

  • Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

  • Matches invoices to receipts for goods/services purchased

  • Issues payment of invoices

  • Processes check requests for payment

  • Processes on-demand checks, wire transfers and void checks

  • Maintains accounts payable vendor master

  • Assists with recurring payments and system closing processes

  • Obtains and maintains 1099 information; assists with preparation and submission of annual 1099 reports to vendors and IRS

  • Monitors discounts and credit balances to ensure optimal results

  • Coordinates and collaborates with materials management to maximize efficiency and effectiveness

  • Assists with software changes, adapts to changes in workflows to support new opportunities

  • Maintains documentation of role responsibilities to ensure proper operational performance

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Attends in-service meetings, educational programs, etc. to maintain current understanding of trends and changes relevant to the industry and finance in general.

  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

  • One year of accounts payable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare organization

  • Highschool diploma or GED

  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Considerable knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar and arithmetic

  • Ability to maintain effective professional working relationships with administrative officials, associates and others concerned with hospital finance

  • Provides excellent customer service

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

  • Possesses strong personal computer skills and the internet

  • A team player
