Job Description:

The Memorial Union (MU) at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for an Administrative Assistant II. This position will provide general office administration for the Student Engagement office including general staff support for ten full-time staff and two graduate assistants.

The Administrative Assistant II will provide excellent customer service and will address questions, requests, and concerns via phone, email, and walk-in guests concerning a variety of areas for Student Engagement and the Memorial Union. This position provides support for the registration process for approximately 800 student organizations and basic support for student organization management systems including the Student Organization Database, Student Organization Marketplace, and the Event Authorization system.

This position will coordinate various programs and services including the flyer distribution service, the annual allocation process for student organization office space, reservations for Lynn Fuhrer Lodge, and the biannual Get Involved Booklet. The Administrative Assistant II will recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate six Student Engagement Consultants (student staff), coordinating with other staff as needed.

This position will also assist with communications and marketing efforts for Student Engagement as well as financial tasks such as processing payments and deposits for departmental programs and services and acting as treasurer for the Focus Art Grant program. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty, staff and general public within a team environment; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
