Your Responsibilities

This position is currently eligible for a telework and/or a compressed workweek arrangement. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes. This arrangement is subject to change.

As a Cloud Software Engineer for John Deere, located in Ames, Iowa, you will perform software development for John Deere AWS and Azure Cloud Platform. In this position, you will:

  • Evaluate, design, and implement solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications

  • Solve well-defined problems with little guidance

  • Provide technical guidance to peers

  • Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to collect requirements, describe software product features and technical designs

  • Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation

Proven Technical Skills and Experiences

  • 3+ years of experience in software development and APIs utilizing Java and/or Python, database, and data management

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile development processes including: Test Driven Development and/or Test Automation

  • 2+ years of experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis

  • 2+ years of experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • 1+ years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure platform technologies

  • Associate level AWS certification

Interpersonal, Leadership & Teaming Competencies

  • Experience with communicating technical decisions and their rationales to development teams

  • Experience working with cloud databases and distributed environments requiring high performance and scalability

  • Passionate, innovative and have the desire to learn new technologies

  • Accountable, curious, and collaborative

  • Proven experience working in a team environment

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent discipline preferred
