Danaher Corporation Finance Manager - Global Manufacturing in Ames, Iowa

The Finance Manager – Global Operations (Manufacturing) is responsible for supporting the forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic partnerships with the global operations teams. The position is further responsible for supporting local financial leadership, guidance and assistance to various plant leaders and plant controllers in alignment with the Global Ops Director. This includes conducting financial and business analysis to identify potential problems and recommend solutions, preparing/supporting the development of annual financial budgets for operations, as well as supporting global supply chain and procurement teams with analytics.

Setting Strategy

  • Partner with Global Operations Finance Director to establish global standard reporting and KPIs, such as plant reporting packages, productivity, inventory & E&O reporting

  • Participate in the development of global standard process documentation/policies for costing items: standard cost methodology, Overhead Absorption, Variance reporting, etc.

  • Challenges existing processes, systems, reports, data analysis and outputs and with the support of Global Finance Director implements necessary changes to create a best in class control environment

Executing for Results

  • Reviews and validates the production, accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly reporting

  • Participates in and helps drive the use of DBS/Lean Management Tools and continuous improvement within the Finance organization and the business

  • Ownership of global capital reporting process, both forecasting and review of project proposals related to Ops

Relationships and Influence

  • Support local accounting team where appropriate to support submission of accurate financial statements that are compliant with US GAAP and DHR accounting practices

  • Support Global VP Operations and Global Operations Finance Director with the consolidation of forecasting, budgeting and strategic plans where appropriate

  • Partners with broader organization to drive standardizations and continuous improvements

  • Performs other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate is a talented professional who can develop talent, foster innovation and deliver results.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting

  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in various accounting and finance roles, with specific experience in product manufacturing

  • Experience in global, matrix organization a plus

  • Ability to effectively partner and influence cross-functional teams

  • Ability to drive alignment and implement standard work

  • Experience in the implementation of financial accounting systems is a plus

  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and a command of the details

  • Ability to deal with conflict, and manage expectations

  • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with Oracle, HFM, LucaNet, or similar software a plus

  • Fluent in English language proficiency
