  • Position Summary

  • We are seeking a talented Information Technology Intern to help support the Service Desk and Business Applications and Network teams with responding to and diagnosing problems through discussions with our internal customers. The intern will be help troubleshoot incoming incidents related to hardware, software, phone support, mobile devices, printer support, conference room support, and medical center floor support. The Service Desk intern will help address incoming requests, including imaging new computers, setting up workstations, performing office moves, setting up home users, and installing software. In addition, you will have the opportunity to assist with ongoing network support projects including installing new network switches and access points throughout the Medical Center. These individuals will ensure all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

  • Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

  • Identification, analyzation, and monitoring incidents and requests to ensure complete resolution.

  • Installation of PCs, notebooks, mobile devices, printers, monitors, telephones, and other related equipment used in the medical center. Moves equipment when requested.

  • Installation and trouble-shooting of software on medical center equipment.

  • Assisting with the installation of network switches and access points throughout the medical center.

  • Resolving problems with PCs, printers, mobile devices, monitors, telephones, and other related equipment used in the medical center.

  • Maintaining and monitoring inventories of workstation equipment and other devices as required by Departmental/HIPAA regulations and policies.

  • Hands on experience with completing Help Desk requests that are the responsibility of the Information Systems department.

  • Understanding and actively following all HIPAA/HiTech regulations and policies.

  • Communication of information to internal customers regarding escalated issues.

  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

  • Working towards a degree in an IT related field.

  • 12 completed semester hours at college or university.

  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to think critically and find solutions for technology-based problems

  • Ability to work and plan independently.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team demonstrated through involvement with student organizations, community involvement, work experience, or other activities.

  • Strong time management skills.

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of MS Office Products

  • Organizational Requirements:

  • De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire

  • All clinical night staff routinely working between the hours of 2300-0700 that work in Acute Rehab, Med Tele, Med Surg, Birthways, PEDS, NICU, and Oncology AND all clinical staff that work in Nursing Support Team, Behavioral Health, ED, ICCU, and House Managers will be required to take the combative patient response team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Individuals less than 18 years old are excluded.

  • Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship and/or work experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft server and Active Directory technologies
