This position is located onsite at the ISU Research Park (Iowa State University, Ames IA).
The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Companys regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
As a Part-Time Student-Crop Care Systems Engineering for John Deere Crop Care located in Ames, Iowa, you will:
Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
Create design concepts in CAD (Creo, ProE).
Develop systems architecture models using tools like MATLAB, Python, Power BI
Test design concepts in lab tests or in field environments on prototype equipment
Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses
Assess lab and field event data for impact to product reliability
What Skills You Need
Ideally you will be pursuing degree in Mechanical or Computer/Software Engineering; others may apply
Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University (ISU)
Graduation date of May 2023 or later
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
Available to work 15-20 hours/week during the academic year
Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer
Must be able to commute to the work location daily in Ames, Iowa, year-round
Strong mechanical aptitude
Effective communication skills both oral and written
Programming experience (MATLAB, C++, Python, Visual Basic, Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
What Makes You Stand Out
Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers)
Experience in product engineering (product design, product testing, software testing)
3D modeling experience (Creo preferred)
Data analytics experience (Python, R, SQL)
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Tableau or PowerBI
NOTE: For Iowa State University students, this assignment will qualify for ISU course credit as a co-op/internship position working 20 hours per week.
