The Division of Materials Science and Engineering with Iowa State University at the Ames National Laboratory is searching for 2-3 qualified Postdoctoral Research Associates to join a research team led by Prof. Rebecca Flint, and including Prof. Cai-Zhuang Wang and Dr. Liqin Ke, that is exploring how magnetic anisotropy can be tuned by the valence in rare earth materials. The team will use a combination of analytical many body techniques on realistic Anderson models and ab initio studies of rare earth materials.
Candidates should have experience with one or more of many body quantum field theory techniques, theory of rare earth magnetism, and ab initio calculations for correlated materials, e.g., density-functional theory (DFT), DFT+DMFT, or Gutzwiller wavefunction based approaches. The candidates should also have a strong interest (although not necessarily experience) in collaborative team work combining analytical, computational and experimental studies.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in condensed matter theory must be completed prior to start date.
Research experience in one or more of: analytical many body techniques; ab initio calculations for correlated materials; computational algorithm and code development and/or machine learning.
