Aston Carter Property Accountant in Ames, Iowa

Property Accountant

6-month contract to hire position

$28/hr. to $31.25/hr. DOE

Description:

Our client owns several apartment complexes in Ames that provide student housing. They have moved a Property Accountant internally and so are looking to add to their

team. The Accounting team is a team of 7 with two other property accountants. This position handling bank reconciliations, month end financials, invoice processing.

Duties to include:

  • Prepare accurate monthly financials by department deadlines each month.

  • Reconcile all accounts each month.

  • Process and pay all invoices prior to their due date.

  • Analyze data to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with our requirements and applicable accounting principles.

  • Manage the cash position of a portfolio of multi-family properties which includes paying bills, completing bank reconciliations, and analyzing the cash position of each property.

  • Apply independent judgement in preparation of monthly financial statements to ensure accurate reporting of each property’s financial position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or associates degree plus 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience

  • Basic accounting knowledge, understanding of accounts payable and receivables, reconciliations etc.

  • Intermediate Excel and data entry skills needed.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid in Ames, Iowa

  • 1 day remote either Thursday or Friday. Monday to Wednesday weekly is required in office
