Job Description:
The Iowa State University Book Store is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer & Sales Strategist. The Senior Graphic Designer & Sales Strategist will plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to communicate products or services. In addition, the Senior Graphic Designer & Sales Strategist will prepare a variety of skilled graphic design and layout work in preparation of various posters, exhibits, advertisements, slides, brochures, books, newsletters, flyers, etc. using various production techniques and computer graphic systems and software. This position will supervise a team of graphic design and marketing employees.
The Senior Graphic Designer & Sales Strategist will possess professional, technical, and extensive knowledge of the following responsibilities in the program specific duties:
Extensive knowledge of current graphic design equipment, tools, and techniques
Use HTML, website design, and graphic computer programs like UI/UX and entire Adobe Creative Suite and experience with Word Press, Java, and CorelDraw
User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) to deliver the best online user experience by utilizing the latest technology
Investigates user experience design requirements of digital assets; develops and conceptualizes a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand
Produces high quality UX design solutions
Designs and tests UI elements and tools
Provides guidance on UX research methodologies
Develops high quality design work including graphic arts, copywriting, photography, videography, web design, automation, and sound
Contributes to marketing, strategic and business planning
Coordinate, prepare and administer departmental design budget
Develop and maintain business relationships with ISU faculty, staff, administration, and external contacts when working on design initiatives
Designs and schedules marketing, website, and publicity materials
Oversee adherence to Trademark Licensing compliance and other relevant Federal, State, and University regulations when creating design images
Manages different marketing design strategies and how they may be best used to increase sales
Develop multifaceted reports of complex data and methods
Develop a reporting interface between bookstore system provider and bookstore staff to deliver cutting edge reporting tools (SEO, email marketing)
Creation and oversight of graphic design marketing department
Assists with designing of social media marketing
Meets with, plans, reviews changes, and presents final designs to the University Book Store Director
This position will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, disciplining, and dismissal as it relates graphic design and marketing staff. The Iowa State University Book Store is open 7 days a week, therefore duties of this position require the ability to work nights and weekends on a rotating schedule as Manager on Duty. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of retail business and proven experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, UI Designer, or similar role.
