Job Description:

IT Services (ITS) at Iowa State University seeks a highly motivated candidate for the role of Data Conversion Developer. This position will play a vital role on an enterprise level data conversion team and will be involved in developing SQL Server integration Services (SSIS) packages and assisting in the analysis, development and documentation of data conversion, migration and ETL procedures to effectively migrate data from legacy systems to the new enterprise Student Information System (SIS).

This position will work with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to transform and validate data. I dentifying, documenting and resolving any potential data issues . Additional projects may be assigned as needed.

ITS provides computing, network services, enterprise systems, and information security resources to the students, faculty, and staff of Iowa State. ITS partners with IT professionals across the campus to provide more specialized IT resources to ISU’s academic and business units. Successful candidates will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results and customer focused approach to their work. Applicants must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, the ability to multi-task, have a positive attitude and enjoy working in a team environment

This position may be filled at level I or II

Minimum Requirements:

I: High school diploma or equivalent (PS808)

II: High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience (PS809)

Example of Duties

• Consults with end users and team members to define and document specifications and scope of projects.

• Conducts a variety of software development tasks including program design, program coding, debugging, and documentation for software/systems and applications programs.

• Modifies, maintains, troubleshoots, and supports existing software.

• Assists with the development of detailed systems design specifications to meet defined requirements.

• Assists with the design, development, coding, and testing of new software services, databases, and application systems.

• Ability to read complex business requirements, vendor provided API and data conversion documentation and transform data to meet deliverable requirements.

• Works on assignments that are generally of a basic technical nature.
