Lauridsen Group Inc. Director of Global Pet Food Sales - APC in Ankeny, Iowa

This position will lead and drive performance by leveraging their background (training, work experience and technical expertise) in Pet Food markets for immediate impact.

This position works under the direction of the SVP of Global Sales for APC, to develop and execute on performance goals, standards and objectives.



  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant industry-related field preferred (ex. nutrition, marketing, business management).


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Sales Manager, Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager in the petfood industry. Global experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in managing sales and defining and launching excellent products.

  • Strong knowledge of technical aspects with experience in petfood applications.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

Other Qualifications:

  • Competent in written and spoken English; fluency in other languages is a plus.

  • Competent with standard computer software.

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time.



  • Assist in implementing global sales strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability developing strategic sales and marketing plans introducing new product applications to the global petfood industry.

  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maximize international sales strategies for marketing APC Product in petfood applications in all global regions.

  • Develop and provide sales and technical presentations to effectively market APC Product in all regions.

  • Actively participate in annual and long-term division strategic planning to define sales of APC Products in the petfood industry.

  • Communicate with and visit prospects and customers on a regular basis to answer questions related to the application of APC Product, and evaluate new application opportunities, and to ensure continued product satisfaction.

  • Work with SVP of Global Sales and Regional Sales Directors to establish effective sales strategies and assist in negotiating pricing with customers.

  • Leverage technical knowledge and assist customers with the application/evaluation of APC Product and support their research projects as necessary.

  • Facilitate communication among APC research, quality assurance, customer service and production staffs to ensure customer satisfaction.

Technical Service:

  • Identify, prioritize and ensure key industry influencers are aware of and understand technical issues concerning APC Product use in petfood markets.

  • Work with technical service, regional sales staff, and current and prospective customers in trial design, monitoring, and result reporting for further product promotion.

  • Work with Global Marketing Manager to coordinate development of sales training, advertising and promotional material to ensure APC Product is positioned correctly and has adequate sales support material.

  • Develop relationships with university, private research institutes, and other industry influencers for purposes of product testing and promotion.

Professional Development/Other Duties:

  • Attend conferences and seminars to learn about current developments in petfood research and the potential impact on APC Product acceptance in petfood markets.

  • Regularly review industry updates/trends through trade journals.

  • Assist with Annual budgeting as necessary.

  • Attend general business skills development training/education conferences and seminars.


  • Desire and demonstrated ability for Sales and Market development in the global petfood market, with some Technical Sales ability.

  • Desire and demonstrated ability to successfully introduce new products to the Petfood Industry.

  • Ability to analyze business trends and product cycles within the identified industry/industries.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the global petfood industry.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all business contacts, including; Sales, Research, Customers, Distributors and Prospects.

  • Ability to manage and maintain corporate confidential information as well as customer confidential information.

  • Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to comply with work related deadlines.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activities.

  • Ability to operate all necessary office equipment required to accomplish job duties.

  • Ability to work daily and extended hours as necessary.

  • Ability to assist with special or ongoing projects as instructed by Management.

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information as well as deliver public presentations.

  • Ability to travel internationally as required.


This job requires the mental capabilities to apply technical knowledge surrounding the global petfood market. Furthermore, the incumbent must assimilate and disseminate product information and assist in the marketing and development plans/strategies for APC products.


This position requires the incumbent to travel on business on a regular basis in a variety of weather conditions. Additionally, the incumbent of this position spends time in the following environments; general office settings, production plants and research labs.


Position location preference would be APC global headquarters located in Ankeny, IA
