Job Description:

The Digital Agriculture Innovations Team within the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University is accepting applications for Engineering Fabricator positions. The ISU Digital Agriculture Innovation Team (www.isudigitalag.org) consists of professional staff and graduate students who work closely with agricultural industry partners to develop innovative technology solutions for agriculture.

These are one year term positions, with full expectation for renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

Example of Duties

  • Design and fabricate engineering test fixtures.

  • Fabricate experimental equipment and make repairs to existing equipment as needed.

  • Install sensors and engineering instrumentation to support specific test plans.

  • Execute specific engineering test plans per specification.

  • Operate equipment and test fixtures in a safe manner.

  • Conduct other program developmental activities as needed.

    Preferred Quals

  • Experience with welding and fabrication of steel products.

  • Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software.

  • Experience with CNC, 3D printers, and common prototyping tools.

  • Experience with 12V wiring systems.
