The YSS Mentoring Program gives hope and opportunity to youth in the community by providing caring, positive adult role models.The role:As a Lead Mentoring Program Facilitator, you will be responsible for the ongoing support and evaluation of the program. You will work with YSS staff and/or school district faculty to identify children and youth to participate as mentees, schedule mentor visits, and monitor the progress of matches.This is a part-time 30-hour-per-week position that follows the school calendar and has summers off. The start date is August 1, 2022.YSS also has other part-time positions that might pair well with this role if you are looking for full-time employment.Supervisory Responsibilities:iInterns/VolunteersWhat you need:A Bacheloris degree in education, child development, or related field is required.Two years of experience performing similar or related job duties.Experience with public speaking and working with volunteers.Experience working with children in a school setting and/or direct service of high-risk youth is preferred.What you will do:Recruit, screen, and train mentors according to program procedures and National Standards.Match mentors and mentees on the basis of established program procedures.Work with YSS and school personnel on referral of children and youth to participate in the program as mentees, establishing expectations for children/youth participating in the program.Schedule mentoring times, and program activities, and organize special events and get-togethers for all mentor/mentees, e.g., holidays and on several occasions over the summer months.Work with parents to obtain permission for their child's participation in the program, building their understanding of the mentoring relationship.Work with supervisors and YSS staff to collect statistical material on hours of service and number of meetings with mentees.Maintain documentation per grant and program requirements.Maintain high morale among mentors; reward and recognize volunteers for a job well done.Promote and advertise the Mentoring Program.Establish ongoing training opportunities for mentors, and actively support each mentoring relationship.Complete a minimum of 6 hours of training per year related to mentoring, prevention and volunteer management.Meet regularly with the Mentoring Program Facilitators in the service area providing support, training, and direction.Other duties as assigned.Compensation:$16 /hour
