Position Description:

Under general supervision, has initial responsibility for operation of all buildings and equipment in assigned area and performing skilled tasks in the inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, facility maintenance, and operation. Typical day to day duties include but not limited to changing filters in air handling units; inspection of equipment in mechanical rooms to ensure there are no leaks, or broken belts, etc; and assistance to other trades when needed.

This is a first shift position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Pay grade for the Area Mechanic classification is 10/4 with a starting hourly wage of $22.19. Potential for higher starting wage based on qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and must have four years of work experience in at least one of the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Licensure in a trade like plumbing, HVAC, or electrical preferred.
