Martin Brothers Distributing Human Resources Generalist in Cedar Falls, Iowa

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for aligning with employees and management in designated areas. The position forms relationships across the company to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the objectives of the organization. The HR Generalist handles various HR responsibilities and has professional experience along with strong communication skills.


Collaborate with management and employees in functional areas to ensure continued growth & success of Martin Bros.

  • Consult with management in operational areas providing HR guidance through HR policy and interpretation.

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relation issues through objective investigations in collaboration with VP of HR and managers.

  • Provide day-to-day performance guidance to managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action).

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Work closely with the Safety Director, Managers, and HR team on Workers’ Compensation administration.

  • Lead unemployment claims from start to finish working closely with managers and HR team.

    Hiring coordination and talent acquisition

  • Perform talent acquisition for assigned areas. Prescreen candidate applications and resumes for required skills, experience, and knowledge to fit position requirements. Make referrals to hiring manager(s) and ensure efficient turn-around activity.

  • Actively participate in recruitment campaigns, job fairs, college relations programs, general networking, etc. to ensure candidate pipeline.

  • Leverage online recruiting resources, employee referrals, and other pathways to recruit talent.

  • Facilitate the process of candidate selection, interviewing, job offer, background check, and candidate onboarding details.

  • Co-facilitate New Employee Orientation.

    HRIS administration support

  • Act as liaison between users and HR to effectively prioritize assignments to meet departmental objectives.

  • Be a fully trained backup for payroll with the ability to lead payroll on an as needed basis.

  • Enter employee actions including new hires, terminations, and job and pay changes.

  • Collaborate with data-heavy areas of HR.

  • Assist and support employees with HRIS questions and troubleshoot needs to increase productivity from the user.
