The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa region. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Responsibilities

• Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

• Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

• Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

• Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

• Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

• Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

• Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

• Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

• Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Requirements

• Ability to meet deadlines

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

• CPA/MBA preferred

• Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills

• Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

• Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

• Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

• Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings

• Annual External Audit experience

• Knowledge of financial statement preparation

• Deep understanding of financial auditing

• High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

• Accounting experience in non-profit highly preferred

• Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

• Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
