Job Title: Delivery Helper

Job Description

Assist the delivery team by loading and unloading construction materials for trucks headed to project sites. Ride with a CDL driver to jobsites to drop materials at the construction site. Materials include drywall, metal framing, and ceiling tiles for both commercial and residential projects. Unload trucks by hand onto a cart and wheel it into the building as the material can't be stored outside. This is a very physical job, but equipment like boom trucks, lifts, pully carts, and dollies are used to make it easier. Depending on the day and project, expect around 3-10 different deliveries. When carrying drywall, you will lift with another person to avoid injuries.

This is a fully on-site position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Work Environment

Construction supply warehouse with deliveries to residential and commercial jobsites. The work split is approximately 40% residential and 60% commercial, with a variety of projects including schools, hospitals, and apartment complexes. The team consists of 10 people, usually working in teams of 1-3. The culture is laid-back and team-oriented, often involving social events, but the environment can be stressful during busy seasons. Contractors may sometimes take their frustrations out on the delivery team. Dress code is jeans and t-shirt with no cut-offs or holes. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, with potential for 50+ hours a week during the summer.
