BAE Systems Director, HR Compliance and Process Excellence - Hybrid in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Description

The Director, HR Compliance and Process Excellence is responsible for developing and executing the HR compliance strategy across the Electronic Systems (ES) business segment at BAE Systems, Inc. The role will also work collaboratively with shared services, centers of expertise and leaders within and outside HR and lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the segment HR operating model.

The role will lead a team HR Compliance and Process Excellence professionals and report directly to the Director II, HR Operations & Analytics. This position is a hybrid role based at any of our major Electronic Systems locations: Nashua, NH (and surrounding area); Cedar Rapids, IA; Huntsville, AL; Austin, TX; Fort Wayne, IN.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Legal and subject matter experts to ensure compliance to federal and state employment laws and facilitate training on HR compliance topics.

  • Identify opportunities for increased shared services utilization and lead sector initiatives to transfer work with effective change management and a positive employee experience

  • Drive agility of HR processes through process improvements, automation and harmonization

  • Monitor HR service delivery trends and partner with key stakeholders to escalate and address issues.

  • Serve as ES Sector HR representative on various cross-Inc initiatives, improvements or working groups are requested and sector input is required.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on all aspects of the HR Operating Model and policies, and delegation of authority with ability to utilize deep understanding of sector and enterprise operations to produce the best outcomes.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s Degree and 12 years of relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. BAE Systems, Inc. will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience in an HR Business Partner, HR Operations or HR Compliance leadership role supporting an organization in excess of $3B in annual sales.

  • Previous experience working for a government defense contractor.

  • This is a hybrid position with a mix of on-site and remote presence. Full-time remote will be considered with different travel expectations.

  • Proven experience serving as a coach to senior leaders for their organization on HR matters relating to organizational strategies and business imperatives.

  • Business acumen, be innovative, adapt well to change and work collaboratively with strategic influence to drive initiatives across a matrixed environment.

  • Deep knowledge of HR fundamentals (talent acquisition, total rewards, performance management, employee relations, diversity, equity and inclusion, organizational change, learning and development, and organization effectiveness).

  • Ability to develop and present senior level leaders with data-driven solutions that will effectively advance business strategies and drive change throughout their organizations.

  • Project management and prioritization skills with proven attention to detail.

  • Analytical skills to draw appropriate conclusions from data, anticipating second and third order of effects when making recommendations.
