We are currently recruiting for a System Protection Engineer in our *Cedar Rapids, IA * office. The System Protection team provides engineering and technical support in substation control, relay coordination, NERC reliability standards and SCADA. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power emphasis is preferred. Desired experience includes familiarity with fault current analysis, substation protection and design.
This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work remotely in combination with reporting to the Cedar Rapids, IA office on average two days per week. The successful candidate must reside in Iowa.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop protective relaying systems for company owned generation and distribution substations, as well as SCADA systems.
Perform fault current studies and coordinate protective devicesusing CAPE software.
Provide technical support for system operations, and relay event analysis.
Lead commissioning and troubleshooting efforts for both new and existing relaying, SCADA and other substation equipment.
All other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university through the Engineering Accreditation Commission. Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Previous technical and/or professional experience.
An internship or co-op in engineering is preferred.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
