Job Responsibilities:This position is responsible for leading training teams to develop training for Rockwell Collins’ customers. Work with program managers to put together bids/ proposals as part of a team. Assess how to discriminate and differentiate Rockwell Collins’ Training from competitors. Understand today’s market and the type of material and /or technology that may need to be trained.

Individual will be supervising all processes related to capturing requirements to meet the content delivery in the area of training development and also monitor development, delivery and assesses effectiveness of training to Rockwell Collins’ customers. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, mentoring as well as supervising staff. This individual will support Commercial and Government business units in bidding, planning, and scheduling training development work, and coordinate with other leaders in establishing plans and executing those plans for customer training.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring high rates of customer satisfaction for training products and services

  • Responsible for ensuring the assigned team(s) meeting quality, cost, and schedule requirements for assigned projects

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of training design, development and delivery processes

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the product design and development processes; Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate, and Sustain

  • Know intimately the value streams for the products built by the training team

  • Ensure staff are adequately trained for a variety of processes, tools, and procedures and prepared for all work assignments

  • Direct staff in the improvement of processes to realize training product design and process improvements

  • Utilize enterprise / Publications and Training systems to monitor staff performance for cost, schedule and quality on assigned projects

  • Provide estimate for bid and proposal processes

  • Responsible to build/promote a team atmosphere focused on innovation, customer satisfaction, thinking big and efficient work effort

  • Coach and monitor job performance and individual behavior on the jobs

  • Reward innovative, customer focused, cost efficient behaviors in support of Rockwell Collins vision.

  • Achieve operational and financial goals set by the business unit

  • Participate in selecting and setting challenging, achievable goals for the team

  • Monitor demand from customers and programs and ensure staffing is adequate for anticipated work

  • Work closely with other Publications and Training leaders to share resources for efficiency at the department level

  • Prepare and present product demonstrations and briefings to internal and external customers

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Present professional image in conduct, attitude, and appearance

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Requires an undergraduate degree in applicable science or engineering field or equivalent, plus 8 years or more, of directly related experience in product design and development. ISD certification preferred

  • Must possess directly applicable experience with Instructor led training, Instructional System design, multimedia, and /or video development

  • Must be able to develop and articulate solid business-cases for new products and services

  • Must have strong working knowledge of aviation technical data products including the following: computer-based training, interactive video, interactive electronic technical manual development, and technical training systems; and the customers that use them

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Rockwell Collins personnel and external customers

  • Demonstrable ability to motivate, train, encourage, and assign and critique work for highly experienced aviation and electronics repair technicians, design and development professionals. Must be able to lead creative thinkers; focus their ideas and energy to build new products and services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Rockwell Collins Tech pubs and modular development preferred Experience on a Rockwell Collins PTS team that develops attractive, highly interactive computer-based training is highly desired

  • Experience with US DOD training requirement, procurements specifications, and delivery formats is highly desired

  • Knowledge of Collins equipment and systems or similar systems closely related in design and functional characteristics is desirable
