This requisition is seeking a self-motivated engineering student with strong problem solving skills that will be used in four main areas of responsibilities: technical support for factory test, test process flow improvement, test capacity analysis, and part/product transitions into the factory. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run January to August; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past August 2024.
Our team provides a very high level of technical support in these areas while keeping a laser focus on our excellent quality. This position provides the opportunity for independent action and working in a team environment to achieve department goals while considering safety, quality, schedule, and cost to determine priorities. This role demands a “people person” that can interface well with production personnel, management, and other support organizations. If selected, you will become familiar with Collins Aerospace products, lean manufacturing objectives, test philosophy, and state of the art manufacturing techniques. Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze product tolerances, part specifications, and test specifications to determine the root cause of test yield drivers.
Provide failure analysis reports and disposition of nonconforming parts and products.
Collaborate with Application Engineering and/or Supply Chain to resolve piece-part problems.
Work with Design Engineering to resolve technical issues that may drive change to the product or test process.
Analyze test data using statistical process control analysis skills to proactively reduce test flow inhibitors.
Determine optimal test flow while considering cost constraints.
Study test equipment performance and reliability and establish solutions for decreasing equipment downtime.
Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and producibility improvement projects.
Provide technical assistance to factory test technicians.
Provide technical interpretation of product documentation.
Maintain control over Engineering Support costs.
Develop working knowledge of test systems and hardware.
Develop validation plans for new test equipment.
Analyze existing test processes for cost reduction opportunities.
Collaborate with Design Engineering on cost reduction opportunities and determine the appropriate test plans.
Capacity planning and utilization analysis for test resources.
Determine suitable replacement part and test plan for part transitions.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
