Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Whole Life Engineering (WLE) team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a desire to be challenged, lead, and grow. Our team designs, builds, and deploys sophisticated testing solutions for product engineering, manufacturing, and repair depots. We work with a vast array of complex products so designing a multi-rack test solution blends creativity with technology to ensure end-product integrity before customer delivery. Testing these products can require leading edge equipment with high-speed connectivity for rapid, efficient, complete, and automated test execution.

As a key member of our Whole Life Engineering Team, you will be assigned a mentor from our WLE department who will guide you in your efforts and a manager who will work with you to break down barriers and help you be successful.

Our Mechanical Engineers design major components or major portions of functional systems, fixturing, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems. They design mechanical parts, work with a drafting team to formalize drawings, and facilitate the fabrication and assembly of their design. In this role, an engineer will participate in either portions of or the full life cycle of a program, based on program size. The position requires interaction with various cross-functional teams to develop solutions.

What YOU Will Do:

  • Design ownership of product life-cycle including initial concept through production and qualification support.

  • Perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components.

  • Solve design problems and check computations contributing to analytical designs.

  • Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (Siemens NX) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical designs.

  • Utilize engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA and DFMA to validate design content.

  • Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.

  • Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Take ownership of task completion

  • Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.

  • Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Manager (PDM) Tools

  • Ability to lead others

  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to locate and isolate problems

  • Presentation skills – ability to prepare and present project / technical information

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
