This position is for a highly motivated team leader of 8-12 radio frequency hardware design engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical systems for the United States and foreign military end users. As a member of the Communications Hardware Leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the development, program performance, and sustaining engineering of hardware solutions supporting the Communications Engineering directorate of Collins Aerospace Mission Systems business unit.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Planning, organizing, resource allocation, personnel development, performance engagement discussions, salary planning, and overall group management of the Power and Information Assurance engineering group.

  • The position requires project execution direction to the engineering team.

  • Demonstrate sound decision-making skills, communication skills, networking skills, and accurately forecast project work demand and costs.

  • Understanding of hardware engineering techniques, communication product development, and the associated processes, as well as project management skills including SPI and CPI analysis.

  • Work directly with and/or manage daily activities of hardware engineers, project engineering, program management, and supporting organizations to see power and information assurance related applications through to completion.

  • Lead the team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues, elevating to upper management when appropriate.

  • Responsible for adhering to and supporting Collins Aerospace process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meeting project cost, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Hardware requirements analysis, definition, and validation; hardware and software integration and requirements verification testing; effective technical collaboration among systems, hardware, and software design functions; assist in resolving technical problems that cross functional domain areas of hardware and software; and developing hardware related documentation.

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with short schedules to ensure customer expectations are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Software Defined Radios (SDRs), Open Architecture methodologies, and communications network architectures.

  • Five to eight years of hardware engineering experience combined with relevant development and/or leadership experience building SDRs to include the hardware qualification of them.

  • Understanding and experience in Agile and Scaled Agile Frameworks is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of radio frequency hardware and mechanical development processes.

  • Extensive experience in all development phases from concept, Preliminary Design (PDR), Critical design (CDR), verification and validation testing, and product deliveries are desired.

  • Familiarity with SEER-H estimation modeling tools, experience with bid narrative write-ups, Earned Value reporting, and test methodologies for Software Defined Radios are advantageous considerations for the position.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
