What You Will Do:

As part of the Annuity and Retirement Actuarial area of the Finance Department, this position will focus on the Modernization efforts to support the Variable Annuity Valuation processes. This will include the creation and implementation of Variable Annuity Inforce files as well as the conversion of the current Admin systems to a new Admin system.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Completes significant and complex data manipulation as well as complex calculation using macros and other programs.

  • Defines system and functional requirements to support data input for valuation models.

  • Assists in preparation and testing of inforce files.

  • Develops automated tools for testing and analysis of inforce files.

  • Extracts and integrates data from various databases to analyze and reconcile conversions.

  • Writes and executes complex queries within a data warehouse and/or a relational database.

  • Maintains existing business tools supporting data correction and key controls.

  • Verifies and reconciles financial reporting data and ensures controls are completed.

  • Specializes in variable annuity product knowledge.

  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes and develop sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements.

  • Collaborates with Modernization, IT, Finance, Actuarial and other areas throughout the company.

  • Other duties as assigned based on department needs.

  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction and all safety rules.

  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics or related field

  • Five years of experience in process engineering, accounting, financial technology and quality control (or three years with Graduate degree)

  • Experience with accounting, investment and actuarial processes and systems

  • Exposure to Six Sigma, LEAN or other quality control/process improvement

  • Preferred: Experience with accounting, actuarial and IT processes and systems

  • Preferred: Experience with Alteryx and Excel.

  • Preferred: Experience with query languages like MS Access, SQL, HiveQL, Oracle and Impala

  • Preferred: Experience working with investment and insurance products

  • Preferred: Experience creating, using and monitoring controls
