Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for two Senior Turbine Engineers to join our Generation Engineering department. This department is responsible for providing engineering services and support to the most critical function of our business, our Power Plants. In this meaningful role, you will plan, direct, and implement large steam turbine, combustion turbine and generator outage maintenance and engineering projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. There may also be opportunity to be involved in new generation build projects by giving guidance on specifications, drawings, and contracts.

Where you will work:
This position will work at one of our Iowa or Wisconsin power plants and offers the flexibility to work from home, in the office, and will travel as needed to support work at our generating stations. Travel will be a combination of day trips and overnight stays, averaging 50% of the year. The successful candidate must reside in Iowa or Wisconsin.
What you will do:
In this challenging role you will plan, direct, and implement large steam turbine, combustion turbine and generator outage maintenance and engineering projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
This position will help develop and lead steam turbine, gas turbine, and generator maintenance strategies.
This team is responsible for the following: planning, scheduling, conducting major overhauls; planning and conducting or giving guidance for maintenance tasks; providing outage resource management; providing craft labor management and supervision; managing alliances.
Perform field inspections, field measurements and equipment walk downs, focusing on assessing Gas and Steam Turbines and associated equipment.
Recommend changes in procedures, equipment, or materials as necessary to maintain and improve turbine performance, reduce operation and maintenance costs, and increase reliability.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission is required.
Required Experience
- 7 years related engineering experience
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of generators, steam turbines or combustion turbines.
Knowledge of the Gas Turbine component management, repair, metallurgical, mechanical and Non-Destructive Testing assessment including failure of Gas Turbine components.
Project management skills, working knowledge of the electric and steam generation industry and any experience with power plant operations would be a plus.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - with an ability to communicate with a wide range of customers (engineers, plant management, finance, skilled laborers)
Proven ability to use computer software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
