Raytheon Technologies Specialized Test Equipment (STE) Design Engineer (onsite) *sign on bonus* in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The Test Engineering Design Services (TEDS) is seeking to fill a Design Engineering position with a talented individual who possesses a BSEE, BSCompS or BSCmptrE degree. The primary responsibility for this position is to work as part of a team to design, develop, integrate and sustain Specialized Test Equipment (STE) and associated Test Solutions with the prime hardware for various Collins products utilizing National Instruments TestStand and C#. The design engineer will work as part of a team to design, develop and integrate RF Link 16 datalink test system Hardware / Software and develop test requirements / specifications to determine Hardware and Software requirements. Potential focus is module level, unit level and EE/RF Test Systems. The engineer who fills this position must have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for both hardware and software. Candidate will be required to analyze and test EE/RF test systems associated with module level, unit level and system level applications. This position will heavily utilize software development and debug skills on multi-rack test stations. These test stations include but are not limited by the following COTs equipment: RF network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, DMM's, logic analyzers, power supplies and electronic loads. This position also requires development and support of thermal and vibration test equipment and software suites. This position is open to a hybrid work schedule; however, the candidate needs to be local or willing to relocate to Cedar Rapids, IA. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Decision making skills - have impact on assessing cost, schedule and technical performance.

  • Coordinating test equipment design reviews and ensuring the generation of appropriate design documentation

  • Design and implement activities required to deploy the project test solutions to world-wide destinations

  • Review product designs and create test solutions that maximize test coverage in the manufacturing and service environments

  • Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers

  • Coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules

  • Coaches, reviews, and mentors’ junior engineers.

  • Participate in bidding and planning activities.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Test Equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.)

  • Electrical Engineering & Test Development Background

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software experience with National Instruments TestStand and Microsoft Visual Studio C#

  • Experience using Mentor DX Designer for PWB schematic capture

  • Factory support experience in RF technology desired

  • Highly motivated and possess effective oral/written communication and interpersonal/team skills

  • Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (i.e. documenting something that is already built)

  • Excellent time management skills - ability to unsupervised, multitask and delegate work to support technicians, engineering support staff and peers.
