Raytheon Technologies Sr. Engineering Manager (Hybrid) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

We are currently searching for a dedicated and team-focused Senior Engineering Manager to be a leader of the connected information solutions to the Commercial Avionics programs. This role has direct responsibilities for leadership of a team of Systems and Software engineers in the Airborne Information Solutions department. The position will lead a cross-functional team developing products for the growing field of connected information solutions for Commercial avionics program OEMs such as Boeing and Airbus. We have provided our connected information solutions such as IMO and FOMAX to airbus programs, and CoreNet and AGW to Boeing programs. This position will lead the team to collaborate with RC-France and GEC-India to maintain current products and develop our next generation products for different aircraft platforms.

A successful candidate will lead with energy throughout complex project activities. Building and growing the team is expected as work continues to increase in the connected information solution area. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with Program Managers and product leadership teams across all business units within Collins Aerospace. This role is ONSITE/HYBRID in Cedar Rapids, IA with relocation available.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate tracking of resource supply and demand to department leadership.

  • Leads, builds, and maintains a multi-functional team to ensure it meets business strategy goals and objectives. This includes hiring, mentoring, providing performance feedback, and developing the team through training and project assignments and full accountability of the workforce.

  • Helps the team of engineers to meet their career aspirations and continued learning needs.

  • Owns the execution of projects to meet established targets and metrics.

  • Reviewing and approving engineering bids and estimations.

  • Develops and reviews short and long term organizational goals and objectives to ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies. This involves working with other Engineering Managers to ensure teams are aligned in objectives and execution plans.

  • Delivers operational and financial objectives in order to plan ahead to actively manage and mitigate all risks to the business.

  • Supports the development of new business growth strategies to increase profitability and/or market share of the organization. Includes the review of engineering estimates.

  • Represents the organization to internal and external stakeholders in order to present a positive image of the organization.

  • Works with customers and may serve as the face of the organization as a leader to customers.

  • Travel is encouraged with teams located in France and India

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and 10 years of relevant experience OR

  • Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” Holder

  • 3+ years of demonstrable leadership experience (e.g., managing projects or small teams)

  • System or Software development background with embedded systems

Preferred:

  • Have avionics software and system development knowledge

  • Have DO-178B/C avionics development process knowledge

  • Connected information solutions or communication network or router design development experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams in multiple locations, including international sites

  • Experience creating/reviewing project bids and pursuits
