Job Title: Trailer Mechanic
Job Description
Candidate will conduct preventative maintenance on tractors to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety. The role involves performing quality and accurate maintenance and repair on tractors and trailers as work orders are given. Responsibilities include diagnosing problem areas and needed maintenance, repairing and replacing various components, and performing minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel.
Responsibilities
Conduct preventative maintenance on trailers to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety.
Perform quality and accurate maintenance and repair on trailers as work orders are given.
Diagnose problem areas and needed maintenance.
Repair and replace brakes, air chambers, wheel bearings, wheel seals, dollies, doors, door seals, lights, body, and tires.
Align axles as needed.
Perform P.M. services and minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel.
Maintain organization of shop and follow proper shop procedures according to management.
Assist other shop staff members with maintenance as needed.
Perform various ground and property maintenance as needed.
Assist drivers with various questions that may arise concerning tractor/trailer repair and direct them to the necessary department as requested.
Participate in departmental training involving updated repair procedures, safety awareness, and equipment changes.

2-year Diesel School OR 2 years of experience from a diesel shop or farm
Ability to lift 70 lbs
Toolbox and tools: basic mechanic's hand tools up to 1 1/2", air tools (shop does have 3/4" & 1" if needed)

Work Environment
Diesel Shop environment. One side of the shop has 8-10 service bays and the other side of the shop has a quick oil change lane. The team consists of roughly 15 mechanics between 2 shifts. The 2nd shift is from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The immediate opening is for the 2nd shift and there is some flexibility on the schedule if required by the candidate.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00
