Patten CAT Vice President- Construction Product Support in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Working Hours/Days

7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday- Friday , afterhours as needed

Overview

Manage all operational activities and assets within the construction product support marketing organization.

Basic Duties

  • Develop and execute short- and long-range plans in support of Altorfer strategic initiatives.

  • Frequently communicate with key customers to ensure that product and service offerings are delivered at a premium level; assist leadership in identifying solutions and executing strategies that improve customer relations, increases market share, and creates a foundation for sustainable revenue growth.

  • Analyze the local markets and relay information to leadership appropriately, reporting changes in competitive offerings, market stability, and growth opportunities.

  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations.

  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

  • Work in unison with the V.P. of Construction Sales, other Altorfer divisions, and Caterpillar representatives.

  • Travel to Altorfer locations and customer offices or job sites as needed.

  • Produce results based on established goals.

  • May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma and 4- year college degree and 10 year’s parts and/or service management experience within the construction equipment industry.

  • Excellent strategic planning & organizational skills are needed.

  • Proven ability to profitably manage large organizations.

  • Proven ability to express ideas and influence others in a positive manner to accomplish goals.

  • Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.

  • Exceptional customer service aptitude with a strong ability to network with internal and external customers.

  • Must have an excellent understanding of equipment service operations.

  • Strong track record of leading by example in our core values: Honesty, Integrity, Safety, Humility, Teamwork and Compassion.

  • Proven track record leading a world-class safety focused service and/or parts operation.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are required.

  • Must have computing experience with MS Excel, Word, and general computer literacy.

  • Must take initiative; be team-oriented and willing to adapt to change.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends with occasional overnight travel.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in an office environment with occasional travel to other Altorfer facilities or customer jobsites. A professional appearance is a must. May on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. May on a continuous basis be on the shop or warehouse floor interacting with service and parts operations. Noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate, and the noise level in the office and warehouse environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional overnight travel may be required via motor vehicle or airplane. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
