Overview

The Site Controller reports to the Senior Director, Finance and functionally takes guidance from the Business Unit and Corporate Finance Team. This position is both a hands-on and strategic role. The Controller will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: Finance, Business Planning and Budgeting, Purchasing and Customer Service. The Site Controller is a member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and will play a critical role in partnering with fellow SLT members to generate strategic plans and the day to day decision making to support those plans.

Responsibilities

Role Priorities and Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting, Control and Analysis

  • Maintain and manage a financial processing and reporting function that complies with all internal controls required for accurate and timely US GAAP reporting, safeguarding of company assets, promoting operational efficiency and compliance with Cambrex policies.

  • Oversee the preparation of and provide critical analytical input into the preparation of timely and accurate financial projections included within forecasts, budgets and strategic plans.

  • Manage a robust contracts management, contract billing, and collections process within internally designated goals and parameters. Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 guidance.

  • Optimize the appropriate strategies to enhance cash flow and develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism.

  • Interface with other departments to verify transaction report data and issues.

  • Coworker and Policy Development and Deployment

  • Provide value added analysis of both historical and projected results in order to provide local and business unit management with decision making tools when evaluating ongoing operating and strategic initiatives.Annually work with direct reports to establish and monitor performance goals.

  • Build, develop and manage Finance, Purchasing and Customer Service teamsto effectively carry out initiatives

  • Evaluate and lead the department for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with opportunities for professional and personal growth.

  • Oversee continuous process improvements in the finance, purchasing and customer service functions, with focus on enhanced use of IT systems and tools.

  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions

  • Develop and implement effective solutions to business challenges

  • Align, within GAAP, the site financial policies and procedures to company objectives.

  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the site

  • Strategic Planning

  • Provide critical input to generate long term strategic plans and ensure the business is positioned to support ongoing growth and increased profitability of the site. Specifically, the Controller should provide expert financial input to support long range balance sheet, cash flow, income statement, headcount and capital expenditure projections, among other items.

  • Ensure the site is properly staffed with the right capability to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the Finance, Purchasing and Customer Service functions.

  • Communication and Problem Resolution

  • Support decision making at the corporate level by insightful, proactive and timely reporting of material issues to the corporate finance or operations team as appropriate.

  • Respond timely and accurately to inquiries from the Executive Team regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Supply Chain

  • Provide leadership to Supply Chain function, including purchasing and customer service departments.

  • Ensure effective processes are in place to support cost savings goals and working capital initiatives. Evaluate KPI’s to drive success in these areas.

  • Promote cross-departmental collaboration and consistent processes for sourcing materials needed for manufacturing and testing.

  • Drive metrics tied to shipments and customer deliveries to ensure positive customer relationships.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of complex, process-based manufacturing financial management experience with a proven track record of increasing levels of financial and operational management

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a CPA and/or MBA preferred

  • Responsibility, preferably within large, global, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, OTC, or food manufacturing companies;

  • US GAAP experience; Prior experience with percentage of completion revenue recognition pursuant to ASC 606 will be highly beneficial;

  • Experience with SAP ERP system; A strong image and presence coupled with the leadership, business acumen, and interpersonal skills necessary to engender confidence from senior management;

  • High-energy, results-driven approach, with an ability to lead and develop a top-performing site team within a larger, global, fast-paced, matrixed environment
