Job Title: Innovation Product Manager - NGS (Software/Bioinformatics)

Location: REMOTE

Our Product Management function is the hub of our organization with comprehensive accountability for our market leading portfolios. The Product Management team consists of both Innovation Product Managers and Commercial Product Managers. Working closely together, the Product Management team collaborates with nearly every function within the organization.

Reporting into the Business Unit Director - NGS, the Innovation Product Manager (Software/Bioinformatics) within Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) will have global accountability for the vitality of the informatics product franchise. This individual will primarily be responsible for defining the informatics portfolio strategy, advancing the product pipeline, and launching new products to the market. The IPM will collaborate closely with IDT R&D, Open Innovation, QRA, service, and finance teams to move strategy into execution.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop business cases to initiate investment to achieve long-term revenue and margin growth objectives in NGS bioinformatics markets

  • Drive partnership with cross-functional stakeholders for new product development from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition.

  • Define market trends, customer journeys, buying processes, customer needs and growth areas.

  • Collaborate with Open Innovation to drive external partnerships to advance NGS bioinformatics strategy

  • Contribute to due diligence research related to M&A opportunities to advance NGS bioinformatics strategy

  • Maintain complete customer insights through qualitative/quantitative market research and robust customer relationships

  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitive strategy, and find opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation.

  • Lead user needs/design specification development for new product development and ensure quality/manufacturability/service targets are met.

  • Develop and communicate product insights, positioning, and value proposition throughout the organization creating alignment around the goals.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for product lines and target markets/customers with regular analysis of trends, competitors, channels, standards, etc.

  • Understands and applies Danaher Business Systems (DBS) toolkits including but not limited to growth tools (e.g. CI, LEx, DDV), and fundamental tools (PSP, SW), to drive KPIs across all product aspects of new product development and commercialization.

  • Collaborate with Commercial Product Management to support GTM strategy and product lifecycle management decisions including product obsolescence and discontinuation.

Education, Licensure, Certification, Registration ( Required )

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in bioinformatics, computer science, molecular biology, engineering or associated scientific field required.

Professional Experience ( Required )

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in Product Management, Product Development, Strategy, or similar.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within Life Science, Diagnostics or related scientific industry preferred.

  • Demonstrated success launching products that meet their financial goals.

  • Strong preference for candidates with additional experience in cross functional roles inclusive of strategy, sales, product development, marketing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ( Required )

  • Ability to work and influence all levels of the organization from Senior Leaders, Functional Leaders to project managers and practitioners in all functional areas and gain followership

  • Effective coaching and mentoring, teamwork skills

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude in both managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams globally

  • Able to lead change through others without direct supervisory leverage

  • Experience with financial modeling and data analysis skills. Ability to forecast and track results. Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI is a plus.

  • Highly analytical and metric driven

  • Proven process improvement and change management skills

  • Familiarity with genomics, NGS products, and analysis software

  • Must be able to travel globally <25% of time.
