GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Foundations in Health Care is a course designed as a bridge class for PACE students to enter either C.N.A or Medical Office Professional.

This class offers basic skill training in the following areas:

  • Soft Skills

  • Keyboarding

  • Basic Math

  • CORE

  • OSHA/HIPAA

  • Resume writing and Cover Letter

  • Basic Medical Terminology

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively teach assigned courses.

  • Serve as a professional role model.

  • Assist students in achieving course objectives.

  • Evaluate and report student performance.

  • Prepare student learning activities.

  • Participate in program activities and meetings as appropriate.

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

    The individual teaching this class will be available Monday – Thursday for a 7-week period in the Spring and Fall semesters

  • Maintains familiarity with policies and protocols of the program, college and clinical agencies.

  • Assumes responsibility, is prompt and dependable in attendance, and effectively applies problem-solving skills.

  • Assists students in identifying strengths/areas for improvement.

  • Acts as a facilitator of learning' discusses, questions, and directs student learning.

  • Maintains confidentiality with patients, students, agency, and college.

  • Represents the college/program in a positive manner.

  • Meets all employment requirements.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking most of the time in a classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing, walking, lifting, dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching. Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally (10-33%). Will travel to other on-campus facilities, attend meetings, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a degree in a health field.

  • Excellent communicator.

  • Must be able to demonstrate all technical skills required of students. May potentially be subject to bio-hazardous chemicals; moveable mechanical parts; and fumes, odors, dusts, and mists.

  • Person in this position must satisfactorily complete Kirkwood’s Bloodborne Pathogens training.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A degree in Health.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Teaching experience helpful.
