Summary
The Technical Product Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all OEM development programs and supports the success of our Infection Control & Guidance product lines. This position will work closely with key partners to manage new product development projects from project identification through to completion, ensuring alignment with partner requirements, market needs, and organizational goals. The Technical Product Manager will oversee the planning, prioritization, coordination, and execution of OEM-driven development initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Regulatory. The role will focus on delivering products that meet market demands, maintain preferred partner status with customers, and enhance brand visibility. In addition, the Technical Product Manager will support Infection Control & Guidance Product Managers throughout the market evaluation and product development lifecycle, contributing to product strategy, implementation, and ongoing product management.
This role is eligible for hybrid work, which offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. You’ll be expected to work from our Coralville office 2-3 days per week, with the option to work remotely the rest of the time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
OEM Development Programs
Works with external strategic partners on new product development
Understands and effectively communicates CIVCO product development process with strategic partners for understanding of project schedules and deliverable expectations.
Works with cross functional teams include OEM Sales, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Affairs, Engineering, Development, Marketing, etc.
Ensures efficient release of new product launches in tandem with OEM development teams
Prioritizes and directs resource allocation against established framework
Scopes and defines project requirements for successful implementation
Builds business case and executes PDA (Product Development Agreements)
Communicates project payment terms with internal stakeholders to ensure completion of project payments and minimum volume commitment
Monitors and communicates progress internally to stakeholders and externally to customers
Work with external partners to expand compatibility of existing CIVCO products as they release new models of existing transducer designs
Product Portfolio
Provide inputs and assistance to product roadmap creation and adaptations.
Serve as internal voice-of-customer to drive projects through the product development process.
Coordinate product line expansion evaluations and sustain product line updates to maximize product life.
Oversee product lifecycle programs including customer notification process for new product announcements and EOL programs.
Contribute approved content for Marketing Communications utilization in brochures, tradeshows, advertising and digital marketing efforts utilizing internal document control and review process.
Manage release process globally to allow internal and OEM ordering.
Participate in internal and external training activities for new product launches with material development and support to ensure correct product information sharing.
Seek opportunities to expand supported product line(s) to attain new users, new use cases or performance expansion.
Product Positioning, Pricing, & Segmentation
Assist with pricing decisions and reinforcement of pricing strategy with stakeholders along with execution in price book tool.
Analyze product sales metrics and profitability for executive level summaries.
Understand key sourcing avenues, lead-time activities, and identify product cost-out opportunities.
Study customer product usage & purchasing ability.
Sales/New Business Opportunities
Collaborate with sales channel managers to develop full understanding of sales drivers and trends.
Provide internal & external product training to ensure adequate support of sales teams.
Maintain sales playbook content for latest product pricing and messaging.
Participate in lead-generation activities and trade shows.
Deliver response materials used in RFI, RFP and/or tender opportunities.
Subject Matter Expertise
Perform market research and segmentation ensuring business cases and project ROI documentation is accurate and complete.
Be the "go-to person” for cross-functional support, providing concise product definitions responsive to on-market customer needs and opportunities.
Maintain up-to-date competitive intelligence to ensure timely responses to shifting market trends and customer needs.
Review market surveillance analysis and identify product gaps necessary to fill customer requests.
Maintain awareness of global and domestic clinical standards changes that may become product or market influencing.
Maintain relationships with product industry thought leaders and/or CIVCO KOL's.
Operational Excellence
Collaborate with operations for estimated order points and product lead times.
Actively participate in quality assurance (corrective action/preventative action) and customer service activities.
Understand product availability across global geographies.
Own PLM content as it relates to licensing and regulatory documentation.
Respond to risks that could threaten product performance or competitive advantage.
Own compliance to internal and external standards, setting schedule for compliance to various standards (SOP, quality compliance, external standards requirements for products, etc.)

Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum of 5 years Product marketing/management strategy or equivalent combination of related education and experience. MBA, medical device, and/or ultrasound experience is a plus
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office. The position requires both strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail while analyzing and drawing conclusions from data. Working knowledge of ultrasound’s clinical utility strongly preferred.
