Robert Half is working with a well-established and successful organization focused within Healthcare, Hospitals, and Social Assistance for a Controller opportunity. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Council Bluffs, Iowa region. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. How you will make an impact

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations


Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Accounting or finance required.

  • Minimum three-years of advanced general ledger or full scope accounting experience required

  • Experience in accounting & finance, preferably in a non-profit and/or healthcare setting a plus.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Great working knowledge of ERP systems, and company-wide accounting software utilization highly preferred.

  • Ability to working directly with all levels of staff, as well as to present and discuss thoughts and strategy with key Directors and Leaders required.
