Google Data Center Facilities Technician Controls in Council Bluffs, Iowa

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in Controls/Automation in an industrial or commercial environment.

  • Experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance and mechanical/electrical infrastructure systems.

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting water chemistry data. Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical generators.

  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours and work rotations/shifts.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in controls/automation, or construction/technical environment or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Rockwell SCADA Systems and Schneider SCADA Systems.

  • Experience with Allen Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs and Alerton ACMs.

  • Strong understanding of SCADA system back-end setup, programming, maintaining, designing, and integration

  • Knowledge of Schneider PMS systems, specifically PME and PSO

  • Knowledge of BACnet and various communication protocols.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components).

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

You are a skilled and motivated Data Center Facilities Technician with a strong background in controls. You will have expertise in utilizing Rockwell SCADA Systems, Schneider SCADA Systems, Allen Bradley PLCs, and Alerton ACMs. You will play a vital role in setting up, programming, maintaining, designing, and integrating SCADA systems, and managing various control and monitoring systems within our data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $81,000-$119,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Utilize expertise in Rockwell SCADA Systems and Schneider SCADA Systems to program and maintain SCADA systems within our data center facilities.

  • Configure and program Allen Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs and Alerton ACMs to ensure efficient and reliable operation of control systems.

  • Ability to integrate, troubleshoot, and repair controls system components from field devices, PLCs, toSCADA systems for building management/monitoring systems for seamless operation.

  • Monitor and manage power monitoring systems to optimize energy efficiency and ensure reliable power distribution within the data center. Understand various industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modus, BACnet, EtherNet/IP) to facilitate data exchange between different systems and devices

  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, programming, and maintenance activities. Provide regular reports on system performance and issues encountered
