Conagra Incoming Ingredient Technician - 2nd Shift in Council Bluffs, Iowa

Job Summary:

The QA Ingredient Inspector ensures ingredients used in this production facility meet the requirements outlined in the ingredient specification. As a quality assurance professional, you are involved in all aspects of quality and safety including audits, HACCP & Food Safety program evaluation, GMP training, working with operations personnel on quality and safety issues, and inspecting all ingredients and packaging materials. You will report to the Quality Team, You will work on site at the Council Bluffs location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor incoming ingredients for compliance to specifications including review of Certificates of Analysis (COA's) or sampling and testing

  • Data collections of physical attribute information on incoming ingredients including reviewing historical data for possible trends or shifts in data.

  • Communication with Logistics.

  • Audit receipt and storage of ingredients comply with specifications

  • Verify and audit all materials are stored at correct temperatures in the material specification.

  • Maintain raw material registries for HACCP and Food Safety Plans.

  • Communication and follow-up of vendor failures to meet specification requirements through use of Oracle PLM software systems.

  • Communication directly with vendors/suppliers to provide COA's if missing or incomplete through written and verbal methods.

  • Collaboration with Supplier Quality on questionable ingredient disposition and vendor follow-up; including entering temp variance requests using Microsoft InfoPath

  • Read and interpret vendor lot code information.

  • Management and coordination of raw material and packaging hold process/list for incoming ingredients and ingredients identified during production as needing to be placed on hold.

  • Communicate disposition of ingredients on hold with Logistics.

  • Document ingredient noncompliance with digital pictures if necessary, for clarification.

  • Coordinate Supplier COAs with ingredient loads to assure correct lots are included on the COAs and to verify that specifications are met.

  • Responsible for weekly storage and receiving area audits and providing feedback to area associates and team leaders.

  • Assist Quality Team Leaders and Manager of Plant Quality.

  • Flexible scheduling with weekend coverage

  • Backup for other salary team members in the Quality department.

  • Ingredient Inspector position reports to a Quality Team Leader

Qualifications/ Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; College degree

  • Minimum of 1 year of quality inspection experience, Food Industry.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

  • SAP computer system experience

  • Infinity QS (Statistical Process Control) software experience.

  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft office software

  • Read and comprehend product specifications and testing procedures.

Physical Demands:

You will walk for up to 10 hours a day

  • Push/pull different plant materials and equipment

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per work day to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies

  • Frequent bending and crawling; will move safely and freely

Compensation:

Pay Range:$41,000-$54,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
