Job Summary:

Establishes and promotes a professional face of the Salvation Army through customer service communication skills. Organizes Office Duties and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with internal policies and procedures.

  • Be familiar with Safe From Harm Procedures.

  • Attend Staff Meetings and Trainings as needed.

  • Performs general administrative clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, scanning, faxing, filing, and office organization.

  • Greet people at the front desk of the Family Services.

  • Help assess basic social service needs of participants in order to make an appointment for them with a case manager.

  • Help participants complete needed forms and information.

  • Answer phones and direct inquiries to correct individuals.

  • Receive and organize postal items.

  • Keep all files and reports updated and organized.

  • Assist in seasonal activities.

  • Maintain a professional manner.

  • General Computer Knowledge.

  • Able to problem solve, and make decisions to the best of their knowledge when Program and Operations Director is not available.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to interact with the public.

  • Must be able to utilize Salvation Army software for statistics and scheduling.

  • Maintains confidentiality.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft products, Internet, and emails.

  • Customer Service skills are a must.

  • Heart and desire to work with Social Service families.

Other Requirements:

The applicant must submit to a comprehensive Background Check.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Experience in customer service in an office environment. Experience communicating and supervising volunteers. Valid Iowa Driver’s License and clearance to drive by TSA’s Insurance Carrier.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent; two years experience with customer service

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. Must be able to frequently lift up to twenty pounds and occasionally up to thirty pounds. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate, move, occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch, frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands as required in using standard office equipment. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
