The Maintenance/Operator role will require the incumbent to perform maintanence duties throughout the facility and periodically perform Operator duties in the absence of the Plant Operator.
The Maintenance shift will be Monday - Friday, day shift. One 4 hour shift per week will be assigned to operator duties in order to keep incumbent operator skills current.
The Operator shift will vary depending on the coverage required (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, piping and other operating systems in water treatment and pumping facilities.
Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose a problem or repair machinery.
Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
Installs and repairs monitoring and water quality equipment. Assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
Operates, monitors, adjusts and calibrates chemical feed systems.
Operates and monitors all treatment facilities as needed.
Maintains written and computer record of operations. Attends company training or outside training classes as assigned.
Performs other duties assigned.
Knowledge / Skills
Advanced knowledge and related experience in the maintenance and repair of machinery, process control and instrumentation.
Must have basic knowledge of electricity.
Knowledge of safety concerns associated with electrical, electronic, machinery and chemical applications.

Experience / Education
Two (2) years experience in machine and instrument maintenance and repair, including vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training or essential experience.
High school diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate. Associate of Science degree.
Ability to obtain operator license within 18 months of hire.
