Accounting and Systems Analyst Associate
The Accounting and Systems Analyst Associate reports to the Controller and is a member of the accounting team. The Accounting and Systems Analyst will be responsible for assisting with full cycle accounting duties for the Company. This will include supporting month-end reconciliation of accounts and preparation of system reports, as well as year-end audit preparation. A key emphasis for this person will be working as a project manager and analyst to support new technologies being implemented at Wendling Quarries. They will be working in a team of individuals in accounting, IT, HR, and various operations departments. It is expected this individual will assist Operations Leaders in designing and developing the processes to enable Wendling to become more efficient and “paperless”, utilizing our ERP system, as well as other cloud-based data processing tools.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis
Full cycle accounting duties for the Company
Produce journal entries; maintain and reconcile ledger accounts including but not limited to preparation of bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax filings, and assist with month end closing
Follow accounting processes currently in place and work with Controller to continually improve upon these processes
Assist in year-end audit preparations, external audits, and preparation of annual budgets
Account reconciliation to assert accuracy of transactions
Create and reconcile mandated external reports
Assist in the implementation of financial controls to ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and practices
Assist to Controller for fixed assets and inventory controls
Ability to learn our Company’s current billing and payable systems from the ground up and then recommend potential ways of increased efficiencies
Identify process improvements and system efficiencies
Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving and profitability improvement
Systems Analysis
Support rollout of technology enabled data processing systems. This will include Trimble Construction One.
Review new cloud-based systems with other team members for potential implementation at Wendling.
Project manager duties for expansion and implementation of data processing systems.
Assists in research of projects to meet agreed upon business requirements.
Participates in QA of new systems to ensure functionality and useability meet established criteria.
Training of team members on use of new technology solutions.
Creation of customized solutions and reports for departmental needs.
Collaborate with IT team members on uses and limitations of technology based on business requirements.
Research and recommend new technologies to increase the efficiencies of data flow in the office
Essential Knowledge, Business Skills, and Acumen :
Strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures
Experience with use of ERP systems for data processing
Familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office 365 Suite
Prior experience using database tools and spreadsheet software such as MySQL and Excel
Experience using data visualization tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI, and Tableau
Comfort preparing and delivering reports to decision makers
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to lead others in decision making
Ability to utilize technical skills to create charts and graphs for visual understanding
Strong desire to continue to learn and innovate
Exhibits a high level of professionalism
Highly motivated and can work well independently
Education and Experience Desired:
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, management information systems, or related field preferred
Two years prior experience in a corporate accounting environment, especially in roles related to financial systems analysis
Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Construction or mining related industry experience a plus
