The Ray Center is dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities by improving civility through character development and ethical leadership. To that end, we work in early childhood education, K-12 education, post-secondary education, athletics and activities, workplace professional development, and in the community and public service arena to help shape the culture of organizations and develop the character of individuals within those groups.

This position will focus specifically on The Ray Center’s CHARACTER COUNTS! K-12 initiatives. CHARACTER COUNTS! is one of the world’s largest character development initiatives and currently impacts over 8 million youth worldwide. The Ray Center seeks a dynamic presenter interested in working with educators to help them enhance their character development programs, develop a positive climate and culture in their school, and drive academic, SEL, and citizenship outcomes through CHARACTER COUNTS! In addition to delivering workshops, this position will write lessons and other curricular resources for schools and other youth-serving organizations, foster existing partnerships and grow new relationships with clients, and assist with grant writing, among other tasks.

Function Percent Description

01 50% Lead training and presentation sessions to support the successful accomplishment of center goals and objectives. Individually plan, develop, and deliver exceptional trainings and presentations to a variety of audiences including: early childhood education, K-12 education and athletics and activities, post-secondary education, community, and workplace professional development sessions. Collaborate with team members on presentations, trainings, and workshops.

02 15% Foster existing relationships and grow new relationships with partners and clients. Meet client and partner needs by providing tools, strategies, and assessments to support partner goals and objectives.

03 15% Select, research, and develop teaching and evaluative aids such as curricula materials, training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference work.

04 10% Develop and implement partnership collaborations to further the mission of the organization. Participates with the Director of Programs and Executive Director in program collaboration with partner organizations.

05 5% Coordinate program efforts with board advisory committee(s), outreach, events, and communication functions. Provide input on budget process.

06 5% Develop plans to deal with specific circumstances (0-1 year) including goals, organization objectives, priorities for a program, or the organization as a whole. Other duties as assigned.


  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s preferred.

  • Applicants with recent K-12 education teaching or administrative experience are strongly preferred. Knowledge and understanding of current educational trends is key to this position.

  • Proven ability to connect with and engage adult audiences in a professional development setting.

  • Ability to meet with clients, determine client objectives, and create presentations and workshops to meet those objectives.

  • Experience writing curricular resources for K-12 students and their teachers.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software suite

  • Travel is required for this position
