Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Business Development Leader, Heavy Commercial of Trade Sales, the Business Development Manager, US Heavy Commercial is responsible for assisting in execution of the business growth plans for Delta Commercial in the US market.

This role is based in the United States, targeting the Midwest.

The US based incumbent will be the face of Delta Commercial in the US market to key commercial and institutional specifiers, mechanical contractors, and institutions across the country with a focus on underdeveloped markets. The incumbent will actively involve themselves in key associations including but not limited to the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCAA), Health Engineers Society (HES), and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).

For success in this position, a person must understand the complex sales cycle and product lines involved in commercial sales. In addition, the person must have an appreciation for maintaining open lines of communication across a broad array of functional areas as well as an understanding of how to create strategy and bring it to execution.

Success in the role also requires productive relationships with several other functions:

  • Delta Commercial US Regional sales agencies

  • MCL and other related business units regarding business development opportunities

  • Technical team for field diagnosis

  • Marketing personnel for market strategy and resource allocation

  • Manage area job quotes and budget

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with top specifiers in your key market. Work closely with these specifiers to develop advocacy for Delta Commercial products

  • Target new business by developing and maintaining relationships with mechanical contractors, especially in the healthcare, educational, and facilities management and commercial segments

  • Use the tools from the sales and marketing teams to grow each segment

  • Conduct lunch and learn type training, contractor breakfasts, and site demonstrations

  • Participate in local, regional, and national trade shows as required

  • Organize and participate in local special event days within the focused segment with key influencers

  • Report on key findings on relevant market detail including product and project trends per segment in key markets

  • Regular engagement with territory agencies for clear communication on strategic plans, goals and project follow up

  • Maintain a current database of key influencers with customer profiles



  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical background

Experience / Skills / Knowledge

  • 7 plus years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to comprehend technical concepts and be able to relay this knowledge to the customer or specifier

  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with plumbers, architects, designers, and specifying engineers

  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings

  • Negotiating skills

  • Advanced presentation skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Excellent interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and be self-motivated

  • Be a problem solver and solutions provider for customers

  • Results oriented self-starter who consistently demonstrates a high degree of initiative

  • Maintain a professional appearance and manners
