Our projects span civil/environmental services, landfills, landfill infrastructure, composting, and more, offering a dynamic work environment that combines office-based tasks with fieldwork.

Role Summary:

As a Civil Engineer specializing in wastewater, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing a variety of civil/environmental engineering projects. Your role will involve design, engineering, permitting, construction, and operations support for projects such as landfills, composting facilities, and other environmental initiatives. You will work in both office and field settings, gathering data, preparing reports, and ensuring project compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Work: Conduct surveys, data gathering, construction quality assurance, and inspections in varied terrains and weather conditions. Record data on soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater, surface water, and other environmental factors.

  • Data Collection: Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites, including soil, air, surface water, groundwater, and landfill gas. Oversee drilling activities, borehole logging, well installation, and sampling.

  • Reporting: Prepare environmental assessment/monitoring reports with tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches, and figures. Complete quality control reviews on all work products before submission.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, clients, and CAD drafters. Prepare reports such as Phase I environmental site assessments, emission reports, groundwater reports, and compliance documentation.

  • Design & Permitting: Prepare permit applications, regulatory agency submittals, and supporting documentation. Use AutoCAD for design plans/figures and prepare calculations for reports and design documents.

  • Training & Safety: Assist in training Environmental Field Technicians and Technical Associates. Prepare short form site-specific health and safety plans and participate in health and safety training.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in civil or environmental engineering.

  • Certification: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is preferable.

  • Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read and interpret directions for field testing equipment.

  • Scientific Knowledge: Understanding of scientific concepts including physics, statistics, chemistry, mathematics, and geosciences.

  • Field Skills: Ability to use basic hand tools and travel as required for fieldwork.

  • Licenses: Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
