Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (http://www.drake.edu/cphs/) is excited to launch a search for a full-time, Clinical Skills & Simulation Learning Coordinator. This position represents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual to join our innovative healthcare degree programs. The Coordinator will manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of experiences within the various clinical skills and simulation learning labs. They will also adapt an interdisciplinary approach to all functions of the college.
To thrive in this role the individual will have strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship. Advanced technical and computer skills, especially in Excel and survey creation software are also important. The successful candidate will have organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through on assignments to completion. They will also have the initiative and ability to work independently while thriving in a setting requiring collaboration and teamwork for maximal efficiency and effectiveness. Maintenance of confidential information is also required.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a health or education field, along with demonstrated education, or knowledge and experience, related to the health field. Experience in a simulation laboratory or clinical setting; simulation certification including CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) or CHSOS (Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist), or interest in obtaining credentials; instructor certification in BLS; technical knowledge in the field acquired through an internship/apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate are preferred.

Teaching Support - Assist with the teaching of simulation and clinical skills using an evidence-based approach that promotes an optimal learning environment. This includes operation of simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers.
Faculty support - Collaborate with faculty during the planning and running of simulation events preparing, applications, props placement, and moulage set up to create a realistic healthcare setting. Assist with the creation of simulated or standardized patient scenarios.
Daily operations - Manage the daily operations of clinical skills and simulation learning experiences. Organize and prioritize scheduling of the Interactive Healthcare Center (IHC) experience for all programs including rooms, equipment, and faculty/educators. Ensure adequate provisions of supplies to meet clinical skills and simulation learning needs. Assure that the equipment is maintained and cleaned.
Set up and take down - Physical set up and take down of a variety of healthcare simulation manikins and clinical lab environments with extreme attention to detail as assigned.
Technical support - Provide technical support related to control room, audio-visual recordings, and simulation-based products to faculty, staff, and students, including trouble-shooting problems, instructing on proper use, and facilitating vendor repairs when necessary.
Administrative support - Provide administrative support for faculty and other staff as needed; serve as a back-up to other administrative assistants.
Professional growth - Effectively sustains adequate job knowledge, professional growth, and problem-solving abilities, including current evidence in the field of health sciences simulation and clinical practice.
