Job Title: Controller - Manufacturing (Multi-Business Unit)

Company Overview: Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing manufacturing company operating across multiple business units. As we continue our expansion through acquisitions, we are seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial strategy of our organization and ensuring the financial health of our growing business.

Position Overview: The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of multiple business units. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will play a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manufacturing finance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, acquisition-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.

  • Analyze financial performance across business units and provide insights to senior management.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend actions to improve financial performance.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for each business unit, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and achievable budgets.

  • Prepare monthly forecasts and variance analyses to track actual performance against budget and identify areas for improvement.

  • Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to senior management, investors, and other stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process.

  • Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage cash flow projections and liquidity needs across multiple business units.

  • Implement strategies to optimize cash flow, minimize working capital requirements, and maximize return on investment.

  • Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.

  • Identify financial risks and implement controls to mitigate them.

  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements affecting the manufacturing industry.

  • Integration of Acquired Entities:

  • Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, including accounting system conversion, process harmonization, and financial reporting alignment.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition and realization of synergies.

    Requirements - Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • Strong communication and social skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • High attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Proven knowledge of inventory analysis

  • Well-founded grasp of Inventory Accounting

  • Experience with cost accounting

  • Foundational knowledge in cost accounting

  • Strong familiarity with general ledger

  • Month end closings experience desired

  • Financial Statement experience required
