The permanent Controller position is situated in the Des Moines metro. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. What you get to do every day

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

    Requirements - Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • Proven knowledge of strategic planning

  • Standard Costing experience

  • Well-founded grasp of Annual Physical Inventory

  • Previous experience working with financial reporting

  • Earlier work involving Analyze Financial Statements

  • Proficiency in Product Costing

  • Quality experience with Bill of materials (BOM)

  • Standard Costing experience preferred

  • Practical knowledge of inventory controls

  • Good understanding of business analysis

  • Wide ranging experience with Internal Control

  • Forecasting experience highly desired

  • Knowledge of costing

  • General familiarity with inventory analysis

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • CPA/MBA preferred
