Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Maintain a professional environment for both our employees and our customers. This includes making sure the shop is clean and in order, and ensuring employees look and act in a professional manner.

• Recruit and interview potential new employees, document performance issues, and ensure that employees adhere to company policy.

• Manage staffing levels and assigned work hours of shop personnel to meet customers’ needs and maximize profitability.

• Manage the process of work orders from start to finish, including obtaining customer information, customer repair authorization, technician paperwork, and ensuring all supporting documentation is available at the time of closing the work order.

• Communicate with customers by providing estimates, obtaining repair authorization and method of payment, giving repair updates, and informing them of completion and total invoice amount.

• Assure that technician training is kept current and identify areas requiring additional training, working with the Department Manager to complete the training.

• Ensure that parts are accurately recorded on work orders and received in a timely manner, collaborating with parts department staff as needed.

• Complete all end-of-month checklists and reports by the first full week of the following month.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor the quality of work performed to ensure high customer satisfaction and limit the need for warranty repairs.

• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company policy and advising the safety director of potential safety concerns.

• Assess daily work operations to enhance the Service Department’s efficiency and productivity.

• Ensure that shop equipment is maintained and tools are properly controlled and secured.

• Ensure that productivity and warranty numbers meet the expectations of the General Manager and the Department Managers.

• Foster and maintain a teamwork environment.

Work Environment

1st shift- M-F (Standard hours in a week is 47.5, but they are open to being flexible with someone as long as they are there 5 days a week.) 'Family feel' shop. Very close-knit culture.
