Job TitleDirector, AccountingJob DescriptionJob Summary | Major goals and objectives.The Director, Accounting is generally responsible for overseeing financial accounting matters related to Dotdash Meredith's Magazine and Digital and Other businesses, including general ledger, administration of corporate policies and development of internal controls over financial reporting to insure adherence to US GAAP, SOX 404 and the analysis of the related activities and policies. The ideal candidate is a master of finance and accounting operations with excellent executive presence, a collaborative working style, and excellent management and leadership skills with the ability to provide clear guidance to accounting staff while also functioning as an individual contributor.In this position you will:Ensure that the Company's financial activities are performed in conformity with US GAAP, SOX 404, and corporate policies.In conjunction with the Financial Controls team, define the vision and lead process redesign efforts to continually enhance an refine IPE and review documentation within key journal entries and reconciliations - identifying non-value-added activities and eliminate them.Review all appropriate account analyses and reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts.Assist in the development, maintenance and education of all major accounting policies and requirements.Report findings to management and where applicable manage remediation activities.Interface with various managers inside and outside the Controller Group to plan an active role in evaluating, developing, and implementing new operational accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes in SEC/US GAAP, and SOX 404 requirements.Research technical accounting issues as needed.Provide direct support on various special projects.Performing other duties as assigned.Essential Job FunctionsAccountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results35% - Ensure financial activities are performed in conformity with GAAP, SOX 404, and corporate policies.25% - Enhance IPE and review documentation within key journal entries and reconciliations.20% - Review account analyses and reconciliations.15% - Special projects and duties as assigned.5% - Supervision of staff.Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.Education:Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance or Economics.Experience:CPA with 7+ years of financial accounting experience with Big 4 or national public accounting firm and/or industry experience; SEC experience preferred.It is the policy of Meredith Operations Corporation ("Dotdash Meredith", "the Company") to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
