Stantec is hiring a Distribution Designer to join our US Mountain region Transmission & Distribution (T&D) group. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform site visit for field data collection and verification of existing distribution lines, facilities and project requirements.

  • Prepare cost estimates on engineering and fielding efforts.

  • Perform detailed design and engineering calculations of overhead electric distribution systems to comply with the client’s standards, specifications, preferences, and relevant industry standards (NESC, GO95, etc.).

  • Develop bill of material required for construction based upon client standards and preferences.

  • Develop permit drawings as necessary to accommodate construction.

  • Support the day to day activities of the project from inception through. engineering, construction, commissioning and hand over.

  • Function as project engineer on assigned projects.

  • Report the progress of the project to the senior engineer and project manager

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Working knowledge of design, construction, O&M of the overhead and underground distribution lines below at or below 34.5 kV

  • Experience with CAD systems such as Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D is desirable

  • Experience with both overhead and underground systems is desirable

  • Experience with medium-voltage systems in both utility and industrial contexts is desirable

  • Experience with IkeGPS or other GPS field data collection platform is desirable.

  • PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and OCalc experience is desirable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Office is required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks / projects with various due dates.

  • Travel and hand-on site work should be expected, up to 20% of your time.

Education and Experience

  • At least 3 years of direct electric utility or utility/power consulting experience; other infrastructure-related experience will be considered

  • Completion of a related STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) credential is a plus

While work is primarily conducted remotely, employees must be able to occasionally travel to the noted office locations for in-person engagements.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $28.17 - $39.47 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
