Wellmark - Des Moines E-Learning Designer - Operations in Des Moines, Iowa

What’s the role? You will be responsible for the design, development and administration of e-learning solutions. Through collaboration with stakeholders, you will conduct learning needs analysis to develop course content. As well as design and deliver online and virtual training that reflects adult learning principles and accelerated learning techniques. You will identify online and virtual e-learning training opportunities based on data, and recommend solutions that will deliver business results that positively impact the member experience. You will also coach colleagues on best practices and how to leverage online opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of curriculum or content development; including delivering classroom or virtual training to adult learners

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business acumen to include, but not limited to Claims, Customer Service or Membership & Enrollment

  • Proficient in design and development of interactive, engaging online training experiences

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others in order to encourage and support communication and teamwork

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail required

  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, think, and work independently

  • Ability to exercise good judgment to analyze and problem solve situations that arise

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to delivers presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the stakeholders/audience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • This position requires travel; 15-20%

  • Healthcare or insurance industry experience

  • Experience authoring software such as Captivate, Lectora, Articulate, GoAnimate, Storyline, or similar

  • Previous experience with audio and digital video production

a. Consult with stakeholders and leadership across Operations in the design, development and administration of e-learning solutions. Ensure training objectives and outcomes are met, content is relative to audience, and training is delivered timely, effectively, and within budget.

b. Partner with colleagues to conduct initial training needs assessments with stakeholders to identify needs and performance gaps, and determine appropriate e-learning strategies.

c. Leverage multiple applications and research best-in-class strategies to deliver highly effective e-learning and virtual training curriculum. Ensure the training material is updated for content and design changes. Maintain library of online training solutions, and supplemental documentation to ensure colleagues and division-wide leadership are aware of new and existing opportunities.

d. Coordinate, track, and evaluate the overall effectiveness of virtual suite of tools and resources including a training return on investment. Identify root causes of training gaps based on data, and recommend solutions to improve the learners comprehension and retention.

e. Analyze, monitor, and report on all virtual training offerings. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on results tied to business outcomes.

f. Meet regularly with Operations leadership and colleagues to ensure that e-learning stays in front of the needs of Operations.

g. Maximize the functionality of Wellmark's learning management system, and promote online learning options available to the Division and other stakeholders. Connect and supplement classroom training with existing or new online learning opportunities. Ensure any e-learning solutions support Wellmark's competencies and branding strategy, and adhere to Learning and Developments style guide.

h. Coach and mentor colleagues to help them leverage online training opportunities to supplement and enhance their training, and increase learner comprehension and retention.

i. Collaborate with Learning and Development, HR, Wellmark Technology, and Communication stakeholders to develop and deploy online content for Operations Division SharePoint sites. Thoroughly test all implementations before deploying to production.

j. Utilize broad and deep understanding of multiple applications, systems, and integrations across functional areas e.g. claims, customer service, membership & enrollment to analyze upstream and downstream impacts of changes and incorporate those into training efforts and coaching.

k. Other duties as assigned.
